London-based designer Veega Tankun of Veega Design crafts cozy and contemporary knit creations. With an eye for artistic interiors, the recent University of Brighton graduate designs one-of-a-kind light fixtures and unique furniture. Her most recent project is a remarkable, oversized chunky knit chair.
Reminiscent of a single, giant piece of yarn, the bespoke piece is composed of twisted tubes meticulously knit by Tankun. Knotted together in a braid-like design, threaded through a wooden frame, and held in place with a yellow cord (“details matter,” Veega explains), the tubes comprise a comfy and surprisingly strong seat. And, rendered in a striking blue hue, the statement piece adds a pop of color to any room.
The piece is part of Veega Design’s Crafting Comfort line, a modern series of bright and graphic knit home décor and accessories that challenges the age-old approach to the art form. Through its fresh and original aesthetic, Crafting Comfort “seeks to reinvent and advance traditional textiles techniques that are often been forgotten by applying unusual use of yarns and materials in a bold and playful design.”
