Last week, a number of newcomers emerged in Milan. The SaloneSatellite exhibition provides a prestigious platform for young designers at Milan Fashion Week. This year's rising stars are full of novel ideas – many of which are related to bold, vibrant colors. From the funky robotic band that plays Mexican songs to the room dividers that contain room furniture to the ant-inspired seating system, there are 15 young companies and designers.
At the show, RoboKumbia is a robotic band that can play Mexican songs with percussion instruments, marimba, bass guitar and synth. This stylish robotic band is the result of an academic project at the Monterrey Institute of Technology's Industrial Design Institute. The project requires students to predict what it would be like if the technology was conceived in the context of a Mexican city.
